Pegasus — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-09-20

Pegasus is a moon-lander game playable on the web and as iOS/Android apps. It has no accounts, no ads, and shares nothing with third parties. This page describes everything the game sends off your device.

Anonymous play statistics

To improve the game, Pegasus sends anonymous gameplay statistics to the developer's own server: runs and distances flown, menu taps, errors, which site linked here (only the site, never the page), and a rough device type such as “iOS · Safari · phone”. No IP address is stored, no advertising identifiers are used, and the raw browser user-agent never leaves your device. Each play session uses a random one-time id that is discarded when you close the game.

The website's front page

The front page at pegasusmoonlander.com counts visits and which of its links are tapped (App Store, Google Play, “play in your browser”, the footer links), together with the same which-site-linked-here and rough device type as above.

That page sets no cookies and neither stores nor reads anything on your device — there is no visitor id of any kind on it, not even the optional returning-player id described above. A visit is simply a page load (a reload or a tap of the back button is not counted again), so the same person on two different days counts as two visits: the page cannot tell, and is not built to. Automated crawlers that identify themselves are counted separately and never as visits.

Nothing on that page waits for any of this — every link works exactly the same whether or not the counting does.

Optional returning-player id

If you accept the one-time in-game prompt (or enable Settings → “Share anonymous returning-player id”), a random id is stored on your device so returning players can be counted. It is not linked to your name or anything else about you. Switching the setting off deletes the id.

High scores

Submitting a score is always an explicit choice. If you submit, the pilot name you type, your score, and a replay of the run are stored on the game's leaderboard server and shown publicly on the in-game high-score boards. Choose any name you like — it doesn't need to identify you.

Data stored on your device

Settings, your pilot name, and cached leaderboard data are kept in local storage on your device only. Deleting the app (or clearing site data) removes them.

Children

Pegasus collects no personal information from anyone, including children, beyond the optional public pilot name described above.
